Gmunden on Lake Traunsee

The Seeschloss Ort (about which a famous Austrian soap opera can be frequently seen on TV there) is where the ceremony takes place in the beautiful Trauungsaal. This is an official Registry Office Salon, so no hiring fee is involved. The castle is built on a promontory into the lake and makes an ideal setting.

Many options are available depending on the number of guests, including a reception in the castle restaurant or grounds, lunch at the Toscana Park, a lake cruise or if applicable, boat ride to the church at Traunkirchen. Church services or Blessings (any denomination) with an English-speaking priest can be arranged at the Church, which has a famous 'Fisherman’s Altar' and is a huge tourist attraction. The Gospel Choir from St.Wolfgang are also available for services here.

Horse drawn carriages or vintage motor cars are available to take the bride, her father and attendants to Seeschloss Ort, whilst Mercedes taxis are used for the transport of the groom and best man. Guests are conveyed by ‘old-timer train’ or minibus/coach, depending on numbers. Musical accompaniment is available at the civil ceremony and during the reception at the Castle. A musician on the boat can also be arranged.

Evening receptions are arranged, usually at the hotel accommodating the main body of guests, and can be followed by dancing to a DJ until the early hours, interrupted only by the ‘feuerzauber’ ceremony, with sparkling balloons floating away into the night!

For those weddings where there are few guests, or maybe just witnesses, dinner by candlelight is available.

Weddings here are based on Waldhotel Marienbrücke, a small family-run hotel set in the woods yet only a 20-minute walk from the centre, at Hotel Goldener Brunner or at Seehotel Schwann, both higher grade hotels centrally situated.
