Legalities

Legal Requirements vary from region to region, but Austria Direct handles all such matters. Our service even includes official translation of documents as and where required.

In Austria,it is mandatory to have a civil ceremony, irrespective of whether you choose to have a church service or blessing afterwards. Some Registry Offices are in grand buildings, such as Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Castle Rosenberg in Zell-am-See or Seeschloss Ort in Gmunden, whilst others are just nicely appointed rooms in official buildings. Authorities have now agreed that the civil ceremony which must precede any church service or blessing, can have taken place outside of Austria.

In some places, restrictions prevail where a service or blessing is requested by a couple, when either or both are not of the catholic faith. On such occasions, we can sometimes arrange for the use of a nearby Protestant or Evangelical Church, or even the Catholic Church in the next village, since this is only a parochial problem. As a result, the tendency has built, to use those places where no such objections exist, or where they may be overcome. We are pleased to say that the number of places where objections arise is rapidly reducing!
