Mayrhofen
Often selected by keen walkers as the place to marry, for if they so wish, couples may attend the ceremony at the Registrar’s Office dressed in their walking gear, get married, go off for a day walking in the mountains, returning in the evening for a celebratory meal on their own or with friends. Other couples follow the traditional route of taking coffee and cakes after the ceremony, with friends or relations, arrange a trip by minibus into the mountains in the afternoon and then enjoy a celebratory meal in the evening at their hotel.
Those wishing a to have a blessing may use the small chapel high in the hills and further down the Ziller Valley, which is usually reached with road transport, or occasionally, with horse-drawn buggy (summer only). This is a truly ‘tailor-made’ arrangement.
In the past, we have worked successfully with Hotel Neuhaus, where Elisabeth and her colleagues organise an excellent wedding reception and celebratory meal for groups large and small. The hotel is very central, a short walk only from the office of the Registrar, and is a very traditional Austrian hotel.
