Presseggersee/Hermagor

Another part of Carinthia which is further north and more mountainous, is the area of the Presseggersee – just a small lake compared with Wörthsee – in a region that is far less ‘touristy’ than its southern neighbours. Here, the Familienferiendorf am Presseggersee is a delightful complex of individual chalets, as well as a small hotel area, fronting on to the lake and expertly run by Christian Richter and his wife Jenny. This venue would suit groups where a number of children are likely to be among the guests throughout the day. The wedding ceremony would take place in nearby Hermagor, where the Registrar has a number of different locations to offer, both large and small.

In Hermagor there is an excellent florist, a confiserie (cake shop) who produce mouth-watering delicacies and wedding cakes, as well as a photographer who regards the taking of wedding pictures to be a separate art.

The whole event would be organised on behalf of Austria Direct by Chris and Jenny, who’s English is almost perfect. Their complex never closes, so weddings here are possible at all times of the year, but for peak season in summer and winter, it is often necessary to book a year ahead!
